How liner sizing works

There's no math trick here — the industry sells liners by pool spec, and the whole game is measuring honestly. Two places pools lie about their size: the nominal size on the old receipt (measure the actual diameter at the waterline) and wall height (measure from the bottom track to the top track, not over the rail).
A worked example
A pool measuring 24 feet across with 52-inch walls and a liner that drapes over the wall: order a 24-foot round, 52-inch overlap liner — or spend a little more on a unibead in 25-gauge vinyl, which hangs cleaner and survives more seasons. Between standard sizes (say the tape reads 23'7")? Round to the standard 24 — vinyl stretches; it doesn't shrink.
